A real eye-catcher on the meadow: Fiberline's administration and production building
The new administration and production building of the Fiberline company, a glass fibre manufacturer, is located in Middelfart,
southern Denmark. In the middle of the meadow, KHR Arkitekter from Copenhagen built a 25,000 m2 large administrative building
that includes a production hall. Like a long-drawn-out hill, the building gracefully rises out of the flat landscape. A high
bay warehouse inside defines the highest point of the structure.
A generous sense of space and transparency
Three large incisions made of glass - that are used as conference and meeting rooms - subdivide the elongated building. In
addition, they produce inside an exciting spatial geometry with (depending on the weather) an almost dramatic interplay of
light and shadow. The production department on the ground floor and the office area in the galleries are separated from each
other by a mere pane of glass. This means that one gets an even more generous sense of spaciousness. The building's bright
design is sustained by the grey and white surfaces of the walls and floors.

1 Above all at night, the administration and production building is an eye-catcher, not only when seen from the near-by motorway. 2 Like a raised hide, the meeting room offers a view of the spacious surroundings and brings nature into the building. These
areas have an exceptional position, they are neither clearly inside nor outside spaces. 3 The building’s atmosphere is light and welcoming. The central atrium extends upward through five upper levels, and the southern
and northern facades are entirely glazed. 4 Despite the numerous glass areas, the building cannot do without artificial lighting. The luminaires were discretely installed
in narrow slits in the wall.
